"What are you doing after graduation?"

"I am going to Cambodia for two years with a missions organization."

"Wow that is cool! What exactly will you be doing there?"

"We will be working with women coming out of the sex-trade and prostitution."

There are so many things about the culture of Cambodia that program women to view themselves as lowly, ugly, invisible and unnecessary. The women need to be reprogrammed with hope which can only be done thought Christ.

There are 3 steps in the process of stopping the injustice that is the sex-trade. Each member of our team will hopefully find their nitch in one of these areas:

1. prevention– Keeping kids in school is key to keeping them out of brothels or the grasp of pimps. Teaching their mom's how to be good mothers and love their kids and find ways to resist selling them into prostitution is huge. This is the 'step' my heart is invested in.

2. rescue– Women working in bars and coffee-shops who are also sold to customers for sex do not know that there is any other way to live. It is what they have known their whole life. Having conversations with them that let them know that there is a way out is the only way to get them out. We won't be performing "raids," but will find ways to reach out to the women in the bars.

3. recovery– Once women find their way out of direct harms way, the real spirit healing work begins. Art, music, counseling, love, prayer, tears, discipleship, business as mission–all are ways of working towards restoration in their lives.

Our team will address these issues in different capacities with initial focus on rescue, discipleship, and business as missions. But none of this will happen without a complete reliance on the Holy Spirit and its leading.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
    because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
(Luke 4:18 ESV)
